As Liberal Advocate for Cooperatives, I would like to thank all of my colleagues that spoke in favour of my motion, presented on behalf of the Liberal Party during the Liberal Opposition Day of May 30^th, to establish a special House of Commons committee to consider the role cooperatives play in Canada and identify areas where the federal government may improve and give them greater support. After this unanimous decision from the House of Commons, I look forward to the special committee on Canada’s cooperatives being struck and to the work ahead of us in strengthening Canada’s cooperatives in this International Year of Cooperatives.

  

I invite you to suggest names of organizations who could testify before the special committee. You can also send me your suggestions of topics for consideration by the committee. The committee’s work will mainly take place this fall.
